This guide generally applies to sunnypilot, openpilot and openpilot-based forks that support uploading routes to comma Connect.

Sections that are sunnypilot-specific (such as who provides assistance or which email to share with) are explicitly noted.

[!important] Supported routes (sunnypilot-specific)
The sunnypilot team currently only provides assistance with routes uploaded to comma Connect from supported comma devices running sunnypilot.

Routes uploaded to other services or platforms are currently not supported.

To help investigate issues, you may be asked to share a driving route so logs can be reviewed.

Step 1: Prepare the Route

This step is required for all sharing options.

[!info] Route preparation only
This step does not share anything by itself.
It ensures the route logs exist and won’t be deleted.

[!important] Raw logs required (rlogs)
For route review, we specifically look for raw logs (rlogs).

All rlogs associated with the route must be fully uploaded in comma Connect.
If any rlogs are missing or partially uploaded, the route cannot be properly reviewed.

1. Upload all raw logs

Go to https://connect.comma.ai
Select the route
Open Files

Open View upload queue and wait until all uploads finish

2. Preserve the route

Step 2: Choose How to Share Access

This step determines who can see what.

Public route → only the selected route is visible

Device sharing → all routes on the device are visible

Option A: Share a Public Route (Recommended)

Making a route Public means:

Anyone with the route ID can access that route

It may include GPS location, speed, and timestamps

Best practices (same guidance used by comma staff):

Start and end at public places (parking lots, stores)

Avoid homes, workplaces, or sensitive locations

Only share routes you’re comfortable making public

Only this route is accessible
No device-level access is granted

Option B: Private Device Sharing

Sharing your device grants access to all routes on the device, not just one.

Use this option only if you are not comfortable making routes public.

Please rename your device to:
Year / Make / Model + Your forum username
(e.g., 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe – sunnyhaibin)

- sunnypilot users: enter support@sunnypilot.ai to allow the sunnypilot team to review all routes
- other users: enter any email address you trust and wish to grant device access to

Notes & Limitations

[!warning] Log availability

All raw logs (rlogs) must be fully uploaded before they can be properly reviewed

Incomplete uploads cannot be effectively analyzed

Only routes visible in comma Connect can be reviewed
